Transformed By The Power Of His Name

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

One of the most undeniable truth about the Christian Faith or belief is the power of being transformed from a life of sin to a saintly life.
There might be some belief wherein attributes of the divine is on emphasis of pleasing their God through many rules and practices that deprives its followers of joy and happiness in life.
While some people, especially those who have not truly opened up their heart to the Lord Jesus Christ could think that it is the same with the Christian faith.
But here are some important things that will help others understand what belief in Christ through His word will definitely bring to those who come to Him with all their heart.

1. Acceptance to God – At the moment you received Him as your Lord and Saviour, He will bring you to His fold. You will be a family, a child of God (John 1:12-13). Another word is being “Saved”. Because humanity is lost thru the sin of the first man and everyone is born and live on sin. But when God sent His only begotten Son, anyone who believes in Him will be saved (John 3:16-17). This is only taught in Christian faith. Salvation is a free gift of God, not a result of any pious or any good deed; it is the gift of God as a direct result of believing in the Son of God. (Eph 2:8-9). This is why anyone who comes to Him begins to live a changed life, a transformation process which starts at the day you are saved which one receives in the power of the name of Jesus Christ.

2. Power over the devil - Mark 16:17a – In my name, they shall cast out devils…
Temptations and sinful life – every one born in this life has been under the bondage of Satan except for Christ who was born without sin. Jesus Christ came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). It is said that the devil is powerful. Yes, but he is subject to the name of Jesus, by the power of His blood and His resurrection (Phil 2:9-10). Though the devil does not stop in his work together with his host of demons by tempting and deceiving people, Jesus gave power to those who believe in Him; the power to overcome the evil one. (Luke 10:19). The devil is the author of all the misery that we all suffer but thank be to Christ Jesus who deliver us from them all.

3. Divine protection – Mark 16:18a – They shall take up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them.
As we entrust our lives to Him, He saves us and also protects us from all harm – spiritual, physical and emotional attacks of the devil. As we allow Him to be our Lord and Saviour, He sends us His angels to provide us His protection (Psalms 91). No weapon formed against us will prosper as we serve Him (Isaiah 54:17). God is so loving that He makes sure His plans for us will be fulfilled. There is no better security than knowing that we are safe in His hands.

4. Opportunity to serve others – Mark 16:18b- “they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover”
God gives us not only salvation, provision and protection but also a very meaningful purpose of living. A life well spent because it’s not for money nor for fame, but for the service of God through serving others. When He gave us authority to use His name to bless others, it’s an amazing and most wonderful thing a person could know and live for. That is why we who are found by Him find it our joy to serve Him in every possible way. Then we start to witness miracles like healing and deliverance, most specially the transformation of lives of others the way He transformed us. (John 15:16)

My friends, Christianity is more than just a religion or a spiritual thing. This is a life which is worth – living. In Christ anyone, regardless of who is and what was can be changed by Him. Regardless of religion, status, belief when he/she opens his/her heart to Him, He will surely do something beyond explanation and comprehension. It will surely come to them; the power of His Resurrection! His transforming power!
