JIL CALGARY 36TH ANNIVERSARY
EXPERIENCING PHENOMENAL BREAKTHROUGH
|
July 27, 2025 marks a new milestone of God's faithfulness and an incredible journey of breakthrough for Jesus Is Lord Church Calgary. Looking back over the three decades, one truth remains: GOD IS FAITHFUL and that ONLY GOD CAN DO THIS.
This year’s anniversary carried the powerful theme, “EXPERIENCING PHENOMENAL BREAKTHROUGH,” inspired by the declaration of our beloved Bro. Eddie Villanueva that 2025 is the Year of Breakthrough. As part of the Jesus Is Lord Church Worldwide, we are not just claiming this breakthrough—we are believing to experience it in full. But more than an ordinary breakthrough, our hearts long for a phenomenal breakthrough—one that is greater, grander, and unprecedented. Because when God brings a breakthrough, He can do something entirely new or take what He has done before and do it even more powerfully. |
Ephesians 3:20 (GNT) declares, “To Him who by means of His power working in us is able to do so much more than we can even ask for or think of.” This powerful truth anchors our faith in God who is not limited by the past, by circumstances, or by human imagination.
This is more than just a theme or declaration—it’s a deep desire to experience His power, to see His hand at work, and to walk daily in the reality of His phenomenal breakthrough.
On this glorious day, great expectancy filled the hearts of everyone who walked through the doors of the BMO Centre. Over 2,000 people—young and old, new and long-time members, families, leaders, and guests—gathered not just to witness a celebration, but to encounter the living God. They came with hearts wide open, believing that this day would not pass without their own phenomenal breakthrough.

The celebration began with thankful hearts as we looked back on the humble beginnings and amazing journey of breakthrough of Jesus Is Lord Church Calgary. We stood together and sang the Philippine National Anthem, the Canadian National Anthem, and the National Anthem of Heaven—reminding us that more than anything, we are citizens in God’s Kingdom.
Additionally, we witnessed a powerful and moving opening production as we declared that our God is the God of Phenomenal Breakthrough. It was a bold declaration that He alone has the power to break every wall, set us free, and lead us to victory.
Ptr. Andy Anada, our JIL North Calgary Associate Pastor, then led us in an opening prayer that set our hearts ready to receive our long-awaited phenomenal breakthroughs. Our Alberta Provincial Pastor, Rev. Ana-Marie Anada, then graced the stage with her opening remarks—welcoming many of our dignified guests who joined our anniversary celebration.
Not only that—even though they couldn’t join us in person, we were blessed to receive heartfelt greetings from our beloved Senior Vice President for International Affairs and Senate Majority Leader, Senator Joel Villanueva; our Director of International Affairs, Rev. Dr. Amor Adela; and our Regional Director of the Prairies, Rev. Pol Narido. We also recognized congratulatory letters sent by the Mayor of Calgary, Jyoti Gondek, and the Premier of the Province of Alberta, Danielle Smith.
Reflecting on over the past three decades of God’s faithfulness, we remembered the countless memories of His goodness through a thanksgiving song medley rendered by members of our Worship Arts Network.
We then welcomed Rev. Addie Asi, our JIL Southern Luzon Operations Head, to deliver the powerful and timely Word of God for our service. Rev. Addie reminded God’s people that phenomenal breakthroughs are experienced only when we have total dependence on God’s power and sovereignty. Through our humility, trust, and full obedience to His commands, we can all receive the breakthroughs that we have been praying for.

Filled with a new sense of freedom and liberty, shouts of praise rang throughout the BMO Centre during our Victory Proclamation—powerfully led by Sis. Margie Reyes and Sis. Faith Andrada of our WAN Team. The atmosphere was charged with faith as victorious breakthroughs were declared, and every heart gave God all the glory. Declarations of His goodness echoed from every voice in the room.
The celebration also showcased vibrant Filipino cultural dances—expressions of heritage and joy that reflected the deep roots and unity of our congregation. Over the years, the church has been a shelter for many Filipino-Canadians here in Calgary, helping immigrants and newcomers not only grow spiritually but also adapt to their new environment. Through its ministries, programs, and community events, JIL Calgary continues to be a home away from home, fostering connections, providing guidance, and walking alongside individuals as they navigate life in a new country.
In addition, the event culminated with a beautiful presentation from our Children’s Ministry, proclaiming in unity that He is Holy forever—a touching reminder of God’s unchanging nature across every generation. The event was then sealed in prayer by Ptr. Rene Tibay, covering all with thanksgiving and faith for even greater things ahead.

Therefore as we move forward, may we walk by faith, believe in the impossible, and live in the overflow of God’s phenomenal breakthrough—in our lives, our families, our church, our communities and throughout the City of Calgary and beyond.
To God be all the glory now and forever!🙌🏻
