Many Christian churches have their own kind of styles in worship but the kind of worship experience that I had in Jesus Is Lord Church is incredibly astonishing. Being new in this Christian walk I can testify about the amazing experience that I had during the Worship Arts Network’s (WAN) Worship symposium held last September 30 to October 1, 2016 at Jesus Is Lord (JIL) - Surrey Chapter. How incredibly stunning to experience such feeling. How unexplainable the joy that my heart had during and after the symposium.
The Outstanding Manifestation of The Holy Spirit at JIL BC Worship Symposium
I consider this symposium a privilege on my part because not everyone is given an opportunity to attend and experience the moving of the Holy Spirit by simply worshipping in spirit and in truth. As stated in John 4:24 “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” Each and everyone in the church put out freely the cry of their hearts. The desire to worship the Lord purely and passionately. Witnessing such thing, I know that we are serving because of God not because of anyone else.
The Atmosphere of Worship. Pastor Jovi Villanueva-Binalla as the speaker in this session stated that, “An atmosphere can make or break the worship” which leads me to the realization that it is true because I witnessed and experienced it during the symposium. Each worshipper is hungry to give their worship to the Lord, that they are hungry on the moving of the Holy Spirit that is why when we began worshipping Him through singing the feeling that I had is really astounding. You can feel the expectation in each and every one. Expectation that our worship will touch the heart of the Mighty King, Jesus. Ptr. Jovi also quoted, “The atmosphere of expectation is the breading ground for miracle.” That is why I believe we should not let different factors around us affect the atmosphere of our worship. She also quoted what Bro. Sam Binalla once said, “Familiarity kills anointing.” When we just get used to it, when worshiping is just a routine, when it’s just for the sake of so-called “worshipping”, we should not allow this to happen because worshiping is not just about singing, it’s not just performing or crying while we sing. It’s about the pureness of our heart, the preparedness of our soul and the willingness to offer our service to our one true King. To sum up the message of this session – “Be holy for the atmosphere of worship is not for us but FOR GOD.”
Homiletics in worship leading is another part of the symposium where Bro. Sam Binalla quoted Pastor. Joey Crisostomo, “Worship leading is like a twenty-minute sermon but we are singing.” Wherein we should discern what the Holy Spirit gives as a right song. A right song that launches to the target that manifest the presence of God. A right song that gives an open room to the Holy Spirit to spread to the people. Again in this session, the Holy Spirit moved. As all of us are worshipping, experiencing the presence of the Holy Spirit in that place the feeling is really ravishing. I can’t explain how great it is to experience His presence, that all of us are doing it for His glory. The moment itself is phenomenal, I have this feeling that I don’t want the moment to finish and I know it’s not just me, all worshippers in the hall are experiencing what I’m experiencing.
Broken Vessel. One quote that really strikes me in this symposium is the quote from Sis. Mylyn Nuguid, “We cannot create true worship without being broken before the Lord.” Our brokenness creates the passion which is due to the Lord. Our brokenness creates total dependence on God and this brokenness creates true worship. Our worship should not be based on our emotion hype but on the desire of our hearts to bring back the glory and praises to our King. If we will not recognize our nothingness with the Lord then our worship will just be a performance, not a sacrifice.
Holiness in worship. Pastor Amor Adela, talked about the responsibilities of a true worshiper. That as a true worshipper we should thirst after God, We must be open to God whatever way He works in our lives. Let God’s Holy Spirit flow through us as a fire, purging us of all that God does not want in our lives. That we should allow God to fill us afresh with His Holy Spirit and remain obedient and open to God. As disciples of Jesus we need to purify or cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit.
At this point, I want to remind us that we are called to worship our one true King, Jesus. Our worship is to glorify God. Our worship to God is very important. Our worship is the bridge connecting us to the heart of our Lord. May the Holy Spirit fill us more even after the symposium, may the fire continue to ablaze in our hearts and may the willingness to worship Him in spirit and in truth be with us until the second coming of the Lord. May we have the courage to share to the people the desire to worship in spirit and in truth. I would say, Worship for a cause not for applause. Live life to express and not to impress. Don’t strive to make your presence noticed, just make His presence felt. Touch no Glory.
