“When you make Him greater in your life, He is exalted.” JIL Regina celebrated its 27th year anniversary on Sunday, September 22nd with the theme “Jesus Be Magnified”. Over 356 people, including 25 first timers, joined us in celebration of God’s faithfulness and glorious power in the lives of His people and church as a whole for the past 27 years.
touch to a man suffering from kidney failure, the answered prayers of several women who longed for a child, the Lord’s protection of His church from the attacks of the enemy, and the salvation of His people. As the WAN team led the praise and worship proper, every hand was raised and every lips declared His glory. Beyond our expectations, the Holy Spirit swept the sanctuary with His presence that saturated the hearts of not only the congregation but the worship ministers as well
as a group, holding a white flag with their last names written on it. With the anointing of the Holy Spirit, Ptr. Mercy offered a special prayer for us. It was a declaration that we will endlessly profess: that Jesus will be magnified in every family!
We give all the highest glory, honour, adoration and praise to our God for making this anniversary a victorious one! In preparation for this day, the enemy brought challenges and hardships meant to discourage us, but it produced nothing but perseverance and unwavering trust in the Lord who lovingly protected and strengthened us and through Him, we have overcome. Therefore, in our church and in our lives - JESUS BE MAGNIFIED!
The inaugural morning session commenced with the esteemed Ptr. Joey Crisostomo who started in the ministry at the young age of 21. He delivered a powerful message very near and dear to his heart: how to become a passionate leader. To become one means to have a servant-like character with every fibre of his/her being drawn to God as an offering. The conviction of the Holy Spirit was so powerful reminding us again to remember our first love. Our passion should be guarded and cultivated as it will be the driving force in fulfilling our purpose and calling, an important key to success and making a significant impact that will leave a lasting mark in people’s lives (Romans 12:11, Acts 20:24, Mark 12:30). His passion and love for Christ is very well evident in the worship songs he has written – a sweet aroma that sprung from the heart of a passionate worshipper and servant of the living God.
After a full day of enlightening and inspiring sessions that fed our spirit, “The Faithfuls” arrived at the banquet hall all glammed up in their beautiful evening dresses and suits. The evening is for them. A scrumptious dinner was served to fill our physical hunger, and yes, it was satisfying! Representatives from different JIL churches rendered song numbers that filled the atmosphere with worship and celebration at the same time. The highlight of the evening was when the most faithful of the faithfuls were recognized one by one as awards and tokens of appreciation (in cash and in kind) were presented by Ptr. Bong and Ptr. Rose Gonzales. The awards/tokens were handed as if we are part of the popular Philippine game show “Pera or Bayong” (money or bag) with our very own JIL twist “Envelop or Kahon” (box) making the evening filled with laughter and excitement as we await the decision of the recipient. This generous gesture is a great reminder that our service to the Lord will never be in vain. It will somehow be appreciated and recognized here on earth as much as it is in heaven. We, servants of God, never find serving as exhausting, but instead fulfilling, rewarding and fun Day 2 of the Summit commenced with our Sunday Worship and Healing Service. Ptr. Bobot Bernardo delivered a sermon titled “God’s Divine Equipping Program” highlighting three key points: trials, inner struggles and blessings. He described trials and struggles as God’s way of teaching and molding us. It’s His way of preparing us to become somebody He has called us to be. He also lamented that blessings may take our eyes off the one who is the source of blessings. We can lose focus on God with our blessings - the more we have, the more we want, the more we want, the more we worry. His sermon touched members’ hearts and left a resounding impression to everyone that God’s equipping is for the purpose of building our character until we are conformed to His own likeness and image. The Commissioning Service lead by Ptr. Joey Crisostomo gave way to the Holy Spirit to freely move in His own special way. The presence of the Holy Spirit was so heavy that Ptr. Joey had to skim through his outline to finish his sermon and then the powerful move of the Holy Spirit just took over. The Holy Spirit is there, He is indeed! Ptr. Joey led the delegates in worship for the rest of the service, singing with heartfelt melodies, songs of adoration giving honor to the King of Kings and the Lord of all. The heaven’s door was opened! People were kneeling down in repentance, broken and humbled by the convicting presence of the Holy Spirit. People were speaking, praying in tongues, and worshipping with hands lifted high in full surrender to the will of God, dedicating their lives once more for His service. Some receiving a fresh anointing from the Spirit, clearly seeing a vision from God, receiving prophetic word and fresh revelation; receiving healing in all aspects of their lives, being refreshed, renewed, mended and made whole again, empowered! The Holy Spirit was moving mightily throughout the banquet hall leaving not one soul untouched. JIL Canada East’s faithful generals, great harvest awaits us. We have received from God and we have been empowered by and filled with the Holy Spirit. Let us go and make passionate and radical disciples boldly proclaiming the Word of Truth; declaring that Jesus is Lord all over the world, from this generation and generations to come! Let us be faithful to our calling until Jesus finally calls us to be reunited with Him and the Father - until we are finally home! -- To find a JIL Church near you, click here. The theme of our Vacation Bible School for the year 2019 is called “Athens: Paul’s Dangerous Journey to Share the Truth”. This was held from July 9th - 13th at the JIL Church Regina sanctuary. Over 42 kids, along with their teachers and volunteers, explored the experiences and travels of Apostle Paul as he set out to preach the Word of God!
Each day was filled with fun activities such as creating cool and one-of-a-kind crafts, preparing delicious snacks, Bible storytelling, and most importantly, singing and dancing along to joyous songs of praise! The VBS then concluded with a graduation ceremony where each delegate was awarded with a certificate of completion for participating in this year’s VBS presented to them by our very own Church Pastor Ptr. Bong Palon. “..that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” The 2nd annual Leadership Empowerment and Advancement Program (LEAP) was a two-day summit held on May 31st at the JIL Church Regina sanctuary and on June 1st at the Travelodge Hotel. Both workers and leaders from JIL Regina and JIL Saskatoon were in attendance. We were blessed to have several WCR pastors and leaders as guest speakers as well as provide support for the event. These pastors include Ptr. Jake Esperanza of JIL Saskatoon, Ptr. George Dela Rosa of JIL Winnipeg, Ptr. Pol Narido of JIL Edmonton, as well as Ptr. Alberto Nuguid, Sis. Gi Emas, Ptr. Rannie Adela, and Ptr. Amor Adela of JIL British Columbia. 2019 LEAP embraced the premise of being thoroughly equipped for His Kingdom. Aside from the general sessions, the guest speakers held informative breakout sessions geared towards the enhancement of the workers’ and leaders’ skills in ministries such as finance, administration, and social media.
On the first day, Ptr. Pol Narido shared a message entitled “Understanding and Walking in God’s Calling”, revealing that the decisions we make can impact and affect His work in our lives, and how a blessed advantage it is to have the Holy Spirit guide our walk in faith. The second day held the remaining sessions such as the “Basic Hermeneutics”, the general principle of biblical interpretation taught by Ptr. Amor Adela, A character study of the life of Joseph by Ptr. George Dela Rosa, “Road to Maturity” shared by Ptr. Rannie Adela, and the ministry-equipping breakout sessions led by Ptr. Albert Nuguid (MIS) and Sis. Gi Emas (Finance/Administration, Social Media). Every message was God-breathed and delivered by anointed speakers, not only providing encouragement and spiritual knowledge but aiming to develop our technical skills as well for us to continue being used mightily in His Kingdom. The sessions concluded with an Anointing of the Oil portion led by Ptr. Amor Adela. With the mighty move of the Holy Spirit, our delegates came forward in total surrender where they received restoration, healing and deliverance, and recommitted themselves to God’s call in their lives and service to Him. After the victory proclamation, each worker and leader of both JIL Regina and Saskatoon received a token of appreciation for their hard work and perseverance all for God’s glory. We also welcomed and formally acknowledged Sis. Apple Merin and Sis. Jireh Hipolito, from JIL Regina, as newly appointed Life Group Leaders. “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10 NIV by Kathrina Sagabaen
A year ago, we launched a JIL Church in Orleans, Ontario Community and little did we know what God was going to do with our obedience. On May 5th, 2019, the JIL Orleans Church celebrated its 1st anniversary. A special event was organized to mark a victorious and spirit-filled anniversary for which was attended by over 300 souls. Children of God, people of JIL Ottawa East, JIL Gatineau, and JIL Orleans themselves celebrated God’s goodness and faithfulness led by the Area Pastor, Ptr. Tara Agpoon and all the other pastor from other Area 1 churches, Ptr. Tony Larracas, Ptr. Judith Abellanosa & Sis. Adelle Hughes. The event was opened with the singing of national anthem of Canada, Philippines and JIL Church Theme song in heaven, "He Is Lord" alongside with the raising of the flags respectively headed by the CYN-YAN Orleans. Following that, was a dynamic pageantry number by the talented CYN and Kids Triune together with the Elyondolus Team as the service started. The JIL Orleans WAN (Worship Arts Network) team led the whole congregation into the heart of praise and worship. Everyone was in their fullest expression of worship standing before God, with praises and Thanksgiving. Our beloved JIL Americas Director of International Operations, Rev. Ptr. Nicanor ”Bong” Gonzales was the guest speaker - sharing a substantial message from the Book of Romans. It was entitled "I Believe In A Great God” (Romans 10:9-10). The preaching gave us the idea or a lesson that in this life, we will have so many pains, troubles and testing - we may choose to be affected or to give up but always remember to choose to believe that there is a Great God who does great things to those who believe that JESUS IS LORD. Following the service, there was a short fellowship wherein everyone was happy and amazed by the performances of talented JIL people as they showcased their adoration to our one and only saviour, Jesus Christ. All hail to the King! Who never fails to astonish us with His unfailing love. He deserves the highest praises and glory. To God Be All the Glory! This is a formal event that consisted of our CYN and YAN LG members, SCOM attendees, as well as invited guests from CYN and YAN Winnipeg. The gala’s theme is “Connect Youth” and its main objective is to evangelize – to reach out to the youths living in Regina, to make this event an opportunity to “connect” these youths to Christ regardless of their age, status and religious affiliation, in accordance to the JILCW Mission. The gala was held at the Sandman Hotel last May 25th with 137 attendees. For the pre-program, the delegates played a modified “Bingo,'' wherein they each must find a person that fits each description in the bingo chart provided. It was a way for them to get to know each other and therefore “connect”. After dinner, a group of CYNs namely Sis. Divine Lacsa, Sis. Krizia Chavez, Sis. Erika Molano, Sis. Eriel Bernardo (CYN Winnipeg), Bro. Joshua Morante, and Bro. Renzy Olivares rendered a song number of Chris Tomlin’s ‘How Great is our God” in different languages including Spanish, Korean, English, and Tagalog.
Afterwards, each delegate was given a unique national flag at the beginning of the event. Based on that flag, that will be the country they “represent”. A replica of the world map stood in the front, and each delegate were asked to put a pin on where their respective countries are located. Our church coordinator, Sis. Rowena Roduta prayed over the “pinned” countries; for these are the nations where a JIL church is planted and currently operating. Sis. Rowena also prayed for the salvation of the attendees.
We continue to experience God’s faithfulness and unwavering love in the lives of our youth. We know and believe that each one of them are precious in His eyes, and we are excited for what He has in store for this generation! The objective of this event was to strengthen the bond between the members of the church, to minister to them spiritually, and to strengthen the physical body through different sports activities. Our Family Day Sportsfest was held last May 18th, 2019 at the Jack Mackenzie School in Regina, Saskatchewan with over 156 attendees. We prepared a variety of ball and non-ball games, and participants such as our church members, CYN, YAN and adult LG members, CYN SCOM members, and invited guests came together to enjoy a day full of fun, food and fellowship!
Basketball games were divided into three categories: CYN Boys, Mens, and CYN Girls/Womens. Volleyball, on the other hand was categorized by CYN Boys/Mens and CYN Girls/Womens. Before the sportsfest began, a parade was held, and all teams declared an Oath of Sportsmanship led by Bro. Chris Merin. The ball games were spread throughout the day wherein the CYN Boys’ Basketball round was held in the morning, while the Mens and CYN Girls/Womens played in the afternoon. As for the non-ball games, the Young Adult Network hosted different games such as “Longest Line”, “Marco Polo”, “Shoot that Ball”, and “Bring Me”. Participants of these games were a combination of CYNs, YANs and adults, with the exception of “Bring Me”. This game was played by the Kiddoz participants. After all the games were done, the Word of God was delivered by JIL Regina’s Church Pastor, Ptr. Bong Palon before proceeding to the Championships round of both basketball and volleyball. All in all, it has been a joyous and victorious event for everyone! Last weekend, our two JIL Churches in the Maritime Provinces of Canada celebrated their anniversaries! The weekend started with JIL New Brunswick celebrating its 1st anniversary on Saturday, March 30! This event was graced with 116 people, and 20 first-timers. Present at the event was the Mayor of Moncton, Dawn Arnold, who acknowledged the contributions and the growth of the Filipino community in New Brunswick. In fact, this coming year, Canada is bringing in thousands of Filipino immigrants. The JIL Church is ready to be a lighthouse and a blessing to the thousands of Filipino families being welcomed to New Brunswick. Photos from JIL New Brunswick's First Anniversary JIL Nova Scotia also celebrated its 2nd anniversary on Sunday, March 31, with an attendance of 137 people, including 13 first-timers. Throughout its two years, JIL Nova Scotia has witnessed many give their life to Christ and many go back to serving God. At both glorious events, Ptr. Bong Gonzales, JIL Director for International Operations - Americas, preached the the Word of God with our 2019 declaration, "Proclaiming Jesus is Lord!" Photos from JIL Nova Scotia's Second Anniversary As families all throughout different cities in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island have been calling the JIL Church to start Bible Studies in their homes, and as many Filipinos will be immigrating to these towns and cities in the upcoming years, we can truly say that God is doing something great in the Maritime Provinces of Canada!

CYN Regina’s very first SCOM Explosion was a success! SCOM Explosion is the gathering of all SCOM members from the following schools: Dr. Martin LeBoldus High School, Miller Comprehensive High School, and the University of Regina. The event was held on March 23, 2019 at the Genesis Hall with the theme “Home is Right Here”, a famous slogan used by many CYN chapters across Canada and is meant to showcase the love of Jesus through unity, belongingness, and love.
Opening remarks were delivered by CYN Regina Head, Sis. Erika Molano. She briefly talked about the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the CYN Organization. She also demonstrated the “CYN Handshake” a unique handshake that represents the “unbreakable bond” between the CYNs. JIL Regina’s Church Pastor, Ptr. Bong Palon also delivered a short message about waiting for our final home that is heaven and the importance of accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. The highlight of the SCOM Explosion was when all 52 SCOM delegates, including 10 first timers, formed a circle, hand in hand, as Ptr. Bong prayed over them. The program then proceeded with a cheerleading competition, where the delegates were divided into three groups and must work together to come up with a short routine. Each routine must include choreography and a unique chant. It was an excellent opportunity for many of the delegates to showcase their talent, and more importantly, to meet and fellowship with SCOM members from other schools. After this event, there has been a noticeable increase in attendance of every SCOM gathering, and several of the SCOM members began attending our Worship & Healing Services as well as our CYN life groups. We praise God for the victory and impact of our SCOM Explosion, for He is continuously touching the hearts of the youths in our city! Check out our CYN Regina page on the following social media platforms! Facebook: CYN Regina Instagram: @cynregina This year’s Couples’ Night was held in the Travelodge Hotel last February 16, 2019. The theme was “Bearing in Love”, focusing on the scripture from Ephesians 4:2 that says “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” Ptr. Bong Palon delivered an inspiring message about the importance of a Christ-centered marriage, and urged the couples to “have an unwavering commitment in making your marriage flourish as God designed it to be.” As part of the event, the Multimedia Arts Network (MAN) showed a video parody that depicts the real-life minor struggles of a married couple that in the long run, becomes a nuisance such as snoring, chewing loudly, bizarre habits, and the like. And for the prophetic gesture, the 19 couples in attendance were asked to write the things that made them fall in love with their spouse at the beginning of their relationship and have it put in a frame that had a picture of them in it. This prophetic gesture aims to serve as a reminder of their love for each other whenever they encounter disagreements and rough times in their marriage.
To close the event, the dance floor was opened for the couples to spend more time together and enjoy the company of their fellow couples participants. |
