Pastor Bong Gonzales As for those who are using the Gregorian Calendar, January 1 is the start of a New Year. But what’s really new? The same Holidays, Important events are posted on the same dates on the Calendar every year and most of them are already expected to come. Some might have thought as I do: What’s really new in New Year? Here’s what came across my mind and I hope it makes sense for our excitement every New Year.
Looking back - when we try to look back we will definitely find many mistakes and failures we committed. So New Year is an opportunity to make things right and avoid the same mistake. Someone once said, “Wise man learn from their own mistakes.” Aside from mistake we can also remember those moments of success – victories and joyful ones with people dear to us; big celebrations like birthdays, graduations and weddings; sad stories that brought tears upon us – deaths and near death experiences of close friends, divorce, unemployment, break ups and others. Looking Ahead - in spite of this, New Year brings us hope, new challenges and new opportunities. A kind of like, start it again. To make things right! To get up from the ditch, to make up and to catch up! It’s also is an opportunity to give up and to look up! New Year is new for those who have a dream, a hope, a plan and a pursuit. We might have been down and failed but New Year offers a chance to take. The New then is our TIME! 365 days to many. To make a resolution. A resolve. A decision. An intention. Do not live it alone – And better be, make it with the best known companion to bring you through, through thick and thin, one who will stay with you no matter what. He is your available help at all times, at all places. The only thing is, He decides where to go, and what route to take. You need to follow Him. He speaks to you in your heart. You know whom I am talking about. He is our Creator, our Savior and our Lord. I am not ashamed to tell you His name, He is Christ Jesus. Read His book, know Him, love Him, spend all your days with Him. He will surely make your life worth every moment. If you took the journey alone last Year, make the wisest decision this year. Do not live alone. In Him we move, live and have our being. No matter what you plan make the best one and be wise as you live this New Year. Happy New Year and may you Jam In Life and make it Through!
