Sarah Urlanda The Christian Youth for the Nations had its annual camp at the Praise Valley Campsite last August 23-25, 2013. 112 CYN delegates from all over Southern Ontario, including 5 delegates from Ottawa and 4 from Montreal joined hands in continuing The Legacy of the Gospel. The theme verse is 2 Timothy 1:13-14, “Hold fast the pattern of sound words, which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us” hence noted, the LEGACY of the GOSPEL. Started with Jesus, Now We're Here
The Legacy of the Gospel Camp revolved around building the CYN ministry on the only foundation that will last which is the gospel. For no one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 3:12). Legacy is a term used for something handed down to the next generation. We are the legacy of the Gospel, the Jesus is Lord Church is the legacy of the gospel, the CYN ministry is a legacy of the gospel, our mission, vision and core values are all legacy of the gospel and this is the reason we are still standing. As most CYN campers were born and raised and have grown up in the church, there is a pressure in us that we need to measure up as to what our parents have accomplished in Christ Jesus. We felt it in the messages of the speakers however they did not focus on that but the gospel. To mobilize this generation, and that everyone may come to repentance, the great and magnificent mandate of every CYN is to amaze their generation with Jesus. This is exactly what happened in our three days stay at Oak Lake: Jesus showed up and amazed us firsthand. The Gospel is Supreme The topics for the sessions are the following: Called or Chosen by Ptr. Allan Pua Church After God’s Own Heart by Ptra. Jovi Villanueva-Binalla Convictions of my Church by Ptra. Mercy Galera Christ Alone, Cornerstone (Worship Night) by Bro. Sam Binalla Comissioning Service by Ptr. Allan Pua The sessions focused on why we believe what we believe and why does it matter. In all of these things, young people were shown that the greatest cause to live for, the greatest joy to be known, and the greatest need of their generation is still the gospel. We were taught about the supremacy of Christ in all things, that He is our all-satisfying treasure. The gospel taught us all about the calling and appointment of the Lord, our identity rooted in the gospel, the commitment to God’s word, the passion to worship and pray, the love for one another, and the heart that burns for God’s mission. Now, we are ready to take JESUS to the mainstream. P. S. We also thank our volunteers who helped out to make the camp a successful one, you did not build a foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood hay or straw and your work will be shown for what it is, the Day will bring it to light. (1Corinthians 3:12-13) Thank you for building a foundation in Jesus by showing Christ's humility in your service.
