Lord God My Shepherd

See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power,
    and he rules with a mighty arm.
See, his reward is with him,
    and his recompense accompanies him.
He tends his flock like a shepherd:
    He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart;
    he gently leads those that have young.
- Isaiah 40:10—11 (NIV)

As we move on and live on day after day, we seek to be guided and inspired by someone greater and able. The Bible tells that God, among His many relational manes reveals Himself as the “Jehovah Raah,” The Lord my Shepherd. He directly promised to be one to Israel, His chosen nation and through Christ all who believe in Him. (John 10:9-16)

Here are stated role of the Lord God as our Shepherd:

1. Feed His flock (Psalm 23:1-2) –  Provide for spirit, soul and body nourishment. God Himself is the source of our provision and supply. He instructs us not to worry about anything but to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and allow Him to do His portion as our Great Shepherd so that we can all declare that our God who does wonders is our “Provider.” 
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (3John 2) 
 
2. Gather the lambs (Jeremiah 39:9-11) – Calling His people from all corners of the earth. Our Great Shepherd gathers His flocks all across the earth. He sends His ministers to proclaim the Gospel of repentance that all the prodigal children can come back to Him and be restored in His loving arms. This is the Great Commission of the Church, this is the reason why you are here and why you read this message. God is calling you to come back to Him and remain in Him. This is why we should go out and reach out and find the lost sheep of Israel and of His church.
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
 
3. Carry them in His heart (Isaiah 49:13-15) – He will comfort them and renew their strength and heal them.  The Great Shepherd knows that along this journey we take, there will be troubles and pain, hunger and thirst and most probably sickness and death. But He is our Healer, our Deliverer. He will carry us when we are weak, comfort us from our sorrow and bind our wounds.” He is our Great Shepherd! This is why He builds His church – to be a place where His healing, comfort and wonders could manifest!
2Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (1 Peter 5:2, 7)
 
4. Gently lead those who are with young (Isaiah 49:15) - Teach and help those who are raising up His children (both biological and spiritual children). The Great Shepherd knows how loving and concern parents are to their children. Even when they become irresponsible and intentionally neglect or abandon those whom He has placed under their care, He (God) will come and raise up someone to be His vessel of fatherly love and motherly caress. He touches hearts to show kindness to you. God will never abandon His young ones both in age and in spirituality. (Hebrews 13:5) 
There will be under shepherd who will scatter the sheep, but the Lord will always raise up someone whom He will use to lead them back to His loving arm. He will move heaven and earth to lead them to His perfect and glorious destiny. (Jeremiah 29:11) 


Among men He is able to touch, convict and instruct anyone to deliver favour to His people, to bring them to where He wants them to be. Governments, laws, even nature is at His disposal. He can use them to bring His chosen people to His will, His sheep to His sheep pen and His blessings to His children. 
 
So, the conclusion is, will you allow yourself to be under His shepherding or will you choose to continue to live like a sheep without a shepherd? (Isaiah 53:6) 
 
Or like Kind David, will you also declare “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want”? (Psalm 23:1)
