JIL Saskatoon

JIL Saskatoon History

Prayer was mobilized for the fulfillment of the church mission in JIL Saskatoon. In June 2004, responding to the urgent need to fulfill the JIL Church Planting program, Ptr. Romeo “Romy” O. Cusay was appointed and assigned in Saskatchewan to oversee JIL Regina and to begin the church planting in Saskatoon.  He accepted it together with his family and relocated from Calgary to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The first prayer meeting gathering was held in JIL Saskatoon office in July 12, 2004 and the Lord was faithful to bring souls to support the ministry at its beginning stage.  The group slowly grew in number and on October 7, 2004, the 1st Mid-week Service was held in the rented Grosvenor Park United Church.  Slowly but surely JIL Saskatoon was introduce to all neighboring churches and all “Kababayan’s” (fellow-Filipinos) throughout the city. After a month of prayer and fasting coupled with the excitement of the JIL people yearning for a Sunday worship service, God answered. Thus, JIL Saskatoon Church was born on November 14, 2004.

During the summer of 2006, the CYN (Christian Youth for the Nation) held a conference with more than 200 delegates from different parts of Canada crowded the City of Saskatoon armed with the fire of evangelism. A concert later on the day became an opportunity for a new level of faith among the JIL people. Also, growth occurred after the implementation of the JIL 12 and JIL Saskatoon conceived the vision for other towns and cities as well.

After three years of hopping from one hotel to another, in conference or executive room that was available, God opened the door for the JIL Church to lease the Cosmopolitan Civic Centre owned by the Saskatoon government last March 23, 2008.  Indeed, the Lord did marvelous deeds and the place was favored by God with such a great blessings.

Today, families after families are coming from the Philippines through Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) and the JIL Church is preparing for the evangelization of this people.

God alone leads JIL Saskatoon people for the fulfillment of his church mission and vision in the City of Saskatoon that shines. They are on their way to conquer all over Saskatchewan for God’s glory alone.
