PROFILE OF REV. NICANOR
"BONG" GONZALES
Rev. Nicanor
“Bong” Gonzales is the only son of Mr. Anselmo Gonzales and Nena Gonzales, born on December 1964 in Bacolod City,
Negros Occidental. He has two sisters; Cris and Bing Gonzales.Nicanor or commonly called as “Pastor Bong” became a committed member of JIL Kalookan since May 1985.
During those days he became the Youth President of their Barangay (Village) in Consejala Lane known for notorious youth criminal
activity. He became a volunteer worker serving as church maintenance, music minister, cell group leader and Zone Coordinator
in JIL Kalookan from 1986 to 1990.He became a Full Time
Pastor in Barahan, Sta. Cruz, Occidental Mindoro on October 1990. Afterwards, transferred to JIL Bangui, Ilocos Norte in January
1991 and pioneered the JIL Church in Laoag City in April of 1993 with only a dozen members. After which he was able to plant
at least fourteen JIL Churches during his pastoral assignment.He
married Rose Gonzales, a JIL Kalookan Treasurer on June 1991 and later joined him in serving the JIL Church Ilocos Norte on
August of 1993. After two years, he became an ordained minister of JIL Church in July 1995,In May of 1997, he was assigned to do a pioneering church planting work in Basco Batanes where he organized a dozen
of people who became the first fruit of JIL Basco, Batanes a remote Island in the Northern Philippines.An opportunity came to come to Canada on August 2001 after two years of waiting.
Upon arrival, assigned as the Church Pastor of JIL Montreal on November 2001.He was later joined by his wife, Rose and two
children namely, TJ and Jerry on December 2001. JIL Ottawa was added to his pastoral responsibility on March 2002. In August
2004, JIL Toronto was also added to his area of responsibility, where he and his family moved since then.He and Pastor Rose Gonzales are blessed with three wonderful gifted Children;
Timothy John “TJ”, Jeremiah “Jerry”and Elijamin “Eli” who are all involve in the JIL Ministry.Presently Pastor Bong is the Area 3 Supervising Pastor of the JIL
Churches in the province of Ontario and Quebec with the assistance of Pastor Rose Gonzales.
