Pastor Bong Gonzales Celebrate what you want to see more of. Every year, each one of us would either attend or host a celebration of special occasion. Bringing our friends and relatives to high light a person’s birth, achievement or an event.
Greetings like “Happy Birthday!” and “Happy Anniversary!” are common to all nations and people. We usually focus on the good that had happened and the person’s achievements. Organizations celebrate too like the Jesus Is Lord (JIL) Churches across Canada with her founding leaders gathered all its partners and members to honor the goodness of the Lord. Bringing in remembrance her humble beginning, reviewing and reciting her Mission, Vision and Values. The JIL Church dedicated new facilities and reviewed many stories in her history. Generally, every one I came to mingle with and observe were so happy and in great ecstasy. Tears of joy expressed in many ways. There were dancing, singing and many volunteered and participated. The adrenalin was so high! However there are some celebrations wherein names and personalities have to be deleted to save the good story from being tinted with remembrance of pride, arrogance and rebellion. That’s why starting things right is very vital for making a good history, a reason to celebrate and to rejoice. I remember my son told me once, “I wonder how other groups can celebrate when they know they started wrong”. It reminded me of a certain country that does not celebrate their founding days because of those who founded it. They said they were criminals, murderers and rebels. Well, they are right because a name is too important to be stained. Time is too precious to waste. Life is too short to wake up with regrets. People are too wise to be manipulated. You are alone in your deception. But in spite of it, some still choose the wrong path. Let us then be careful, make right plans and build on the right foundation, so that the history will be for celebration. Each one of us is responsible for our own portion in this journey we call “life” for in one-way or the other, every event will be celebrated. Let’s give them good reason to celebrate our portion. Let our families be pleased to celebrate our birth, not celebrating it to please us. Let our organization and group celebrate her joyful years without deleting what we have done, for it will make us irrelevant. Let us keep a good track record of our existence and give good reason for every celebration. Let us add life and fulfillment to every story being celebrated! Let us celebrate as we Jam In Life with others who make it through!
